VAWG Keyworker (Somerset) – Female 

The Nelson Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting women with complex needs, helping them make positive changes and live safer, more independent lives. 

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) Keyworker to join our Women’s Community Services team in Somerset. This role focuses on delivering trauma-informed, gender-responsive support to women experiencing domestic abuse and/or sexual violence, often alongside multiple and complex needs. You will play a vital role in providing tailored support, advocacy and outreach to engage women who may struggle to access services. 

Salary: £27,000 – £28,500 per annum (pro rata) 
Hours: 28 hours - 4 days per week (flexibility required) 
Pension: Auto enrolment pension (6% employer contribution) 
Location: Bridgwater Women’s Centre 

What will you do 

  • Provide one-to-one support to women experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence 
  • Manage a caseload, including assessments, risk management and support planning 
  • Deliver outreach support to engage women who may struggle to access services 
  • Work with partner agencies to coordinate tailored support and advocacy 
  • Attend multi-agency meetings, including MARAC, representing client needs 
  • Facilitate group sessions focused on healthy relationships and recovery 
  • Support women through the criminal justice process where required 
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting

What we are looking for 

  • A full driving license and willingness to travel across Somerset 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with women with multiple complex needs 
  • Strong understanding of domestic abuse, sexual violence and their impacts 
  • Experience in needs assessment, risk management and support planning 
  • Ability to engage and build trust with women who may find services difficult to access 
  • Confidence in managing a varied caseload and responding to crisis situations 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Good IT and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records
