Bank Support Worker – Domestic Abuse (Female) 

The Nelson Trust is a leading charity supporting people affected by addiction, trauma and the criminal justice system to achieve recovery and long-term positive change. 

We are recruiting compassionate and reliable Bank Support Workers to join our team in Swindon. This residential service provides a safe, supportive environment for women experiencing domestic abuse and complex needs, including substance misuse, mental health challenges, and offending behaviours. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of residents while offering empathetic, trauma-informed support. 

Salary: £13.45 per hour 
Hours: Zero hour contract 
Location: Swindon 

What will you do 

  • Maintain the safety and security of residents and the building at all times 
  • Carry out regular property checks, including communal areas and resident rooms 
  • Control access to the building and complete routine patrols 
  • Provide practical and emotional support to women with complex needs 
  • Manage incidents, emergencies, and complete accurate reports 
  • Maintain records and deliver clear handovers between shifts 
  • Promote a clean, supportive, and structured environment 
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational procedures

What we are looking for 

  • Experience or understanding of working with vulnerable women and complex needs 
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to best practice 
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging situations 
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in building therapeutic relationships 
  • Good IT and administrative skills with attention to detail 
  • Empathetic, non-judgemental approach with strong professional boundaries
