The Nelson Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by addiction and trauma to build safer, more stable futures. Within our residential women’s service in Stroud, we offer trauma-informed care in a structured, supportive environment where recovery can begin and lives can be rebuilt.

Our approach is shaped by years of experience and colleagues with lived experience, creating a culture grounded in empathy and real insight, enabling us to support both practical needs and lasting recovery.

We are looking for Bank Recovery Support Workers to join our team, providing flexible, compassionate support to women in residential treatment as part of a wider, supportive team.

What does that look like day to day?

Supporting recovery means being there in practical and meaningful ways, including:

• Supporting everyday needs such as housing, finances and health, helping build stability beyond treatment
• Encouraging engagement with the recovery programme and offering consistent support day to day
• Providing a visible, reassuring presence across the residential houses
• Responding calmly to challenges, including offering support in moments of crisis or distress
• Supporting with practical tasks such as medication, appointments and transport when required

What you’ll bring to the role

Working in a bank capacity requires flexibility, reliability and a strong sense of care. We are looking for someone who brings:

• Flexibility to work shifts as needed, providing reliable support when it matters most
• The ability to build trusting, respectful relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
• Understanding of addiction, trauma, or working with people experiencing adversity
• A calm, non-judgemental approach, with the ability to respond thoughtfully under pressure
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn and develop within the role
• A full driving licence and willingness to travel when required
