Counsellor

Join our award-winning team at The Nelson Trust Women’s Centre in Gloucester as a dedicated Counsellor and help women overcome trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and justice involvement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver one-to-one counselling to women facing multiple disadvantages, using motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioural therapy, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a safe, women-only space.
  • Support women on their recovery journeys, ensuring their safety, confidentiality, and well-being.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of psychological services and the wider Women’s Centre community.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Diploma-level counselling qualification and BACP registration (or eligibility and willingness to apply for accreditation).
  • Experience in delivering supervision and support to team members is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and continuous professional development.

What We Offer:

  • Salary: £27,000 – £29,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Auto-enrolment pension (6% employer contribution)
  • Full or part-time hours available
  • 25 days leave (pro rata) plus public holidays
